Booking your shoot
The first step is to get in touch to check if I’m available for the proposed date of your shoot. It’s helpful if you are able to give me an idea of any deadlines you are working to so that I can advise you what is possible in the timeframe available.
How many shots do you need?
I’ll need an idea of how many images you’re looking to create. This will help guide how much shooting time we’ll need. If you only have a rough idea then don’t worry, we can have a chat about the type of images you’re interested in creating and I can guide you as to what might be achievable in your timeframe.
What will your images be used for?
The way we set up on the shoot day itself may differ slightly for different types of media so I’ll need to know how you plan to use your images: Social media, web banners, digital adverts, print media etc.
Where you want your shoot to take place?
Do you want the shoot to take place at my studio or at your location?
Brand guidelines and briefs
If you have brand guidelines and a brief then you can either email them straight to me, or schedule a call so we can talk everything through.
For smaller shoots, a lot of clients like to send over mood or Pinterest boards, or a few images grabbed from the web with a style of image they like. It really does help me meet your expectations, and also make best use of our time on the day, if you can give me some sort of visual stear prior to the shoot.
If you’re new to working with a food photographer then don’t worry at all, I can guide you through the process and help you make the best use of your time and budget so that you get some incredible images.
Food and prop stylists
Preparing and styling food to be photographed can be a little different to how you might cook a regular meal to eat, so if you don’t have experience in this area you might want to consider hiring a food stylist. Working to your brief and budget, a food stylist can help design and create dishes especially for the photoshoot, as well as styling the food on set to ensure it all looks visually appealing on camera.
If you need recommendations for food or prop stylists then please do get in touch.
